Competition Rules
1. Every entrant must be a fully paid up club member.
2. All entries submitted for any club competition shall be entirely the work of the author. Trade processing is permitted but third party editing is not. Composite images are permitted as long as all component images are entirely the work of the author.
3. Any print, slide or digital image which, in the opinion of the Committee, does not conform to the rules for that competition shall be disqualified.
4. There shall be a ‘Print of the Year Competition’ and a ‘PDI of the Year Competition’ at the end of the Club Year. Up to four entries on the night in total, comprised of any mix of Prints or PDI will be permitted per person. All images must previously have been entered in a Club competition during the current Club Season. It shall be at the discretion of the Committee whether this Competition is judged by an external judge or by the Club members.
5. There shall be a Natural History Competition each Season. There may be three entries comprised of any mix of prints or PDI. Wildlife subjects must be of animals, birds, flowers or plants. No domesticated animals or birds, cultivated flowers or plants are eligible. “Escapees” are also ineligible, however wild they may appear! Titles must be descriptive of the subject and should include the Latin name, if known, and location the photograph was taken.
6. There shall be two League Competitions (prints and PDI). The positions shall be based upon the six highest marks achieved by each member in that Season, with gold awards receiving three marks, silver awards receiving two marks and bronze awards receiving 1 mark. In the event of a tie, the seventh highest mark shall decide the result and so on. The number of prints and digital images that may be entered in the League Competitions shall be advised to the membership at the time.
7. Photographs may be entered only once for any Club Competition that is not judged by Club members, but photographs may be resubmitted for any other competition. This Rule 7 does not apply to the Image of the Year Competition (see Rule 4) or any other competition that the Committee decides is exempt from the rule. The Committee will tell members about decisions any such exemptions under rule 7 at least 2 weeks in advance of the relevant competition.
