TALK: Margaret Soraya - A life less ordinary - landscape photography through the Scottish Highlands & Islands
TALK: Margaret Soraya - A life less ordinary - landscape photography through the Scottish Highlands & Islands
Margaret has a strong belief in following your intuition and living by what your true passion is. Her own relentless pursuit of the ideal lifestyle has led to many travel assignments round the world. But she always returns to where her heart lies - in remote and beautiful areas in Scotland. Her passion for the sea, beaches and dramatic open skies has led her to take haunting evocative photos in Scotland.
She tells, through her story of her interest in mindful photography, the healing power of nature and the strengths of introversion. Her main focus is inspiring others to take time for their own landscape photography - for both well being and creative fulfilment. |

WORKSHOP: Lightroom Live! with Joe Houghton
WORKSHOP: Lightroom Live! with Joe Houghton
This is a club night with a difference! The club sends Joe 2 folders of images. One has members' unprocessed RAW files, the other their processed images.
Joe edits the RAW files using Lightroom, Photoshop & Nik Silver Efex, and shows his own approach to editing the file to club standard. We then compare Joe’s edit with the member’s edit and discuss the differences. This session never fails to entertain, inform and delight, and is the newest addition to Joe’s popular set of club talks. www.houghtonphoto.com |

TALK: The World of a Wildlife Photographer, by David Boag
TALK: The World of a Wildlife Photographer, by David Boag
This entertaining lecture spans 35 years of photography and takes us to 5 continents. The questions David is most often asked relate to how he began - the commissions he has undertaken and the 18 books he has had published. Also how he works and his views on equipment.
On the surface it follows the course of his career, however it is actually designed to be an encouraging inspiration for every level of photographer. David touches upon the challenges of working in a strange environment and on subjects that are not familiar. We see the value of attitude and enthusiasm. The whole point is not to make wildlife photography a speciality for the elite but to make it available to anyone with enthusiasm and persistence. |

TALK: Architecture: Exposure to Edit by Richard O'Brien
In this talk Richard talks about the kind of images he takes and what he looks for when shooting both internal and external architecture.
He'll start by talking about the gear he uses and why he uses it, and then cover some of the very simple tricks he uses to help him 'get the shot', especially in crowded locations, whilst showing some of his work. In the second half of the talk, he'll do a live demonstration (all questions welcome) editing some of the images using a combination of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC. All of this is from the point of view not only of an amateur photographer, but a professional IT and Photoshop instructor. |

TALK: The Power of Photography by Roger Mendham LRPS
Photographs have the ability to stop time, to provide a freeze-frame of a moment in time and space. They give the observer the opportunity to think, to react, to feel and to soak in the details of the circumstances surrounding the image.
This talk examines some the most important images and photographers of the past century. It explores why these images are so powerful and influential in our understanding of history. |
